  2. Neil, I am sliding over to the Salt perspective slowly and inexorably. It was also a hilarious article. Face it, foodies need to be taken down a peg. Just not you and me.

  3. Hi steve, I agonized over the garnish, tried to keep it simple, but in my usual way, got carried away.

Hi kitchen hand, not sure Salt realizes how hilarious his article was, a paean to plainness. Now only if he'd gone on about salt instead, went to a shop that sold, I don't know, about 20 different types.

Interesting Neil, your point about plainness. I have come to the conclusion that whilst AA Gill is a writer of great talent, his particular shenanegans relating to dissing chefs might be all about his aversion to food that he just dosen't 'get', after all he did write the IVY cookbook which though serving excellent food aint no Noma

  5. I think you missed the point Neil. Salt (fitting non?) had a crack at people who take themselves too seriously. And don't they make the best targets when, in a fit of humourless response, they get all hurt and defensive about it. It is no different, in fact it is an extension, of what Paul Levy originally intended when he coined the term 'foodie'. He was being satirical and, fittingly, making himself the object of self-parody.
