About Me
I'm a Melbourne boy, hailing from St Kilda with one ex, one current wife and four kids. Love the outdoors and making new discoveries. I cook a lot at home (cheers from wife) and do some preserving, mostly jams, pickles and fruit liqueurs. This is the diary of a cooking journey.

More Happy Snaps (The Last)
Look out Harry, Lord Voldemort is hiding behind the rock!!!

Looking down Mt Buffalo from the base of The Horn, the highest point on the mountain at 1723 metres. The nearest slope is covered in burnt trees.

The Chalet which overlooks the gorge. When I first saw this I half expected Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey to jump out of the bushes.

View across the Australian Alps. It was a bit hazy, but the Alps stretched on forever.

On top of The Horn.

Part of the bleak, lunar like landscape on the plateau of Mt Buffalo. That's what 360 million years of erosion will do to you.

I suppose you'll be wanting a few food photos next, I'd better get cooking.

Yaay, photos. Pretty soon you'll be hooked on photographing everything you cook.

Magnificent.

When i first saw Mt Buffalo Chalet I expected Margaret Rutherford to jump out, or at least walk out with dignity.

Awesome photos Neil, looks like you enjoyed yourself. I have been the same of late. More sight seeing up here than cooking in the last week or so.

Hi tanna, see, I am good for the diet! I think you would love this area, there's quite a lot going on.

Hi kalyn, I still haven't quite got my head around it yet, it seemed pretty easy to just cook and write whenever the whim, photos will take more discipline.

Hi christine, glad you like them. It seems ironic they're not food photos.

Hi kitchen hand, I bet there would have been a nice cuppa with her as well.

Hi squishy, that's it exactly, I've done no real cooking to speak of and I would also have to say I've been completely knackered since coming back with all the hundreds of kilometres I drove through the mountains, then climging them, today is the first day my head has worked.

Must go, and this year.

Wow! Gorgeous pics, especially the first. I don't know much about Harry, but that looks sublimely Tolkien to me.

Hi lucy, go you should, it's a wonderful place.

Hi gigi, I can fix that..."Look out Frodo, Gollum is hiding behind a rock!!!"
