About Me
I'm a Melbourne boy, hailing from St Kilda with one ex, one current wife and four kids. Love the outdoors and making new discoveries. I cook a lot at home (cheers from wife) and do some preserving, mostly jams, pickles and fruit liqueurs. This is the diary of a cooking journey.

Pinched this quote from my blogging friend Laurie.

"I like rice. Rice is great when you're hungry and you want 2,000 of something." Mitch Hedberg

I know exactly what he means, one's too many, a thousand is not enough.

Yes, there are meals when only 2000 will do! ;))

Awww!!! You quoted Mitch Hedberg! I love that guy!! He was a very funny, funny man. One of his best known stand up routines was about club sandwiches.

May he rest in peace :(

Hi tanna, I wonder what weightwatchers would have to say about eating 2000 of something?

Hi serenity, I'd never heard of him before reading the quote, but I looked him up...there was something sad about his life, but he had a fantastic sense of humour.

Hi ellie, I just thought it was so funny when I read it, the sense of absurdity. Better than math, huh!

Hi laurie, I'm a bad boy, you caught me stealing off your site, but it was such a fun quote and I got to find out a bit about Mitch as well.

So much healthier than 2,000 chocolate chip cookies!

But, Lydia, why not 2,000 chocolate chips?
Naw, better stick to the rice!

Hi lydia, a bit more doable too!

Hi katiez, isn't it. I think your right about sticking with the rice too. Can you imagine the pimples, not to mention the elastized pants...

Hi Neil.. Made your Mexican Rice Salad mate.. The family went nuts over it.
Gonna make it again this weekend.

Funny how I came across your blog ya know..
Noticed you made a comment on Kristina Chew's blog(as I often do, having an autistic son and an interest in autism)thought I'd check out your blog.
Glad I did.

Hi kathy, glad you liked it, this rice salad is probably the first time I ever thought up a recipe and came about because I thought the taste of wild rice interesting, but it seemed to need other flavours to moderate it, as its flavour is so dominant.

Always nice to meet someone on the same journey.
